Not really.
It just got hot. Really fast.
We had beautiful days in the mid-eighties with mild breezes to keep things cool. Now it's in the high nineties and dead still. Oh, and our AC was out of commission until yesterday. It seems that, oh about 20 years ago, the folks who owned our house felt some kind of serious threat so they had an alarm installed. Those fancy 1988 alarm people saw fit to put the bull horn type speaker in our AC air return. In order to run their teensy tiny wire down to that speaker, they gashed a six inch hole in the AC duct in the attic. They didn't bother to repair their little hole and it seems that we've been air conditioning our attic since we bought the place over 11 years ago. Nice, don't you think?
Well, My Man and My Daddy got all suited up on Saturday and they replaced all the duct work in our attic. It's amazing how that ol' AC unit doesn't feel the need to run every 20 minutes or so now that it's no longer trying to cool down our attic.
So, what does that have to do with laying low? Well, you see my 'office' is actually in the addition part of the house-also added in 1988. It has really lousy insulation in the walls and none in the roof. Oh, and our laundry facilities are in that room too. So, you can imagine that my little west facing room gets a bit warm once those darned temperatures start climbing toward 100. So, the only time it's really tolerable to be back at my desk is in the early morning or late in the evening. Two of my busiest times of day--I like to be busy sleeping then.
We'll see how this summer goes . . .
