I planted giant sunflowers along our west-facing back fence in hopes of shading the straw bale garden. There is a 15 foot stretch of fence where not a single sunflower came up. Right behind the garden. Of course.
Of those that did come up, the first one bloomed today. It made me very happy.
I am always amazed when a whole (in this case, giant 11 foot tall) plant grows from a tiny seed and then miraculously produces seeds of it's own.
The circle of life. It is amazing.
