Wow! I feel like I'm finally getting my thought process back to normal. What I'm making for dinner. What bills need paid. Whose laundry should be washed first.
Marrying off your friends can be rough.
You'll all be happy to know that Auntie Chris and Uncle Jake are now official.
The ceremony was beautiful. God timed the breezes just perfectly with Pastor Tim's prayer for the new couple. The reception was, I hope, everything she had hoped for.
Major milestone for me: I only teared up once.
You see, My Man was the honorary Father of the Bride. Chris's dad passed when we were in High School, and her little brother, Uncle Vinnie, was killed in 2006.
When My Man walked in to give her the sixpence for luck, I knew it would be the most painfully apparent moment that Vince wasn't there. It was. We all shed a few tears. Then we sucked it up and determined to have a fabulous day. Which we did.
They're in Maui this week while I'm here making dinner, paying bills and doing laundry. I guess they waited long enough to find one another that they deserve a break from the little things that make up daily life.
