Thunder and Lightning, Like Never Before

The above song/slide show has nothing to do with this post except that the lyrics contain the phrase, "thunder and lightning, like never before" and these are the words that popped into my head as we witnessed an awesome storm on Thursday night. One like I haven't witnessed in a long, long time.

Now, I realize awesome is an overused word, but really, this storm--it was awe inspiring.

The wind--it blew down our neighbor's GIANT pine onto his truck and knocked out the power to the entire town about four minutes after it started blowing.

The lightning--flashed like daylight about every half-second.

The thunder--rattle the windows, make my heart quiver, base drums of Heaven are beating kind of thunder--just rolled on and on and on. (One very loud crack, though, came about 40 minutes into the storm, right over our heads and even made My Man jump!)

The rain--came down hard and steady for at least four hours (I went to sleep, so who knows . . .) and this is what we got! Just over an inch! That's a lot for our little corner of the Wild West.

What have your summer storms been like this year?
