I'm sure you've noticed I've been focusing on sewing and crafting a lot lately. It's hot. And humid. And hot. I don't much like to be outdoors when it's hot and humid. And hot. So, since my garden is DEAD, I've been staying in and doing some sewing and crafting. It's the ebb and flow of my life. Unfortunately dictated by the hot and the humid.
(Side note: I got in my car on Wednesday to go visit my lovely midwife Lynette
for my favorite appointment of the year and my thermometer read 116. 116.
degrees. Fahrenheit. That is hot, my friends, hot.)
Since I've been sewing and crafting a lot, I've been using pins and needles a lot too. Now, I've always kept my pins loose in an old tin. After all the sewing of aprons, project bags and prototypes (for things yet unseen) I have become annoyed with getting pin pricks to my fingertips every time I reach for a pin.
Then, I did this. (Two nights before the photo.) (Why do waterproof band aids always leave that black gunk that is nearly impossible to wash off?)
Thank you, Microplane Box Grater developers for creating a fabulous hand guard for your grater. I believe I am convinced of it's usefulness.
This little raw, open sore on my thumb is in a LOUSY place! It is continually getting pricked and poked by all those pins . . . so, I decided to make this Love Stitchery Pincushion.
I've got my pieces cut, design traced and my floss chosen, now I just need to plunk myself down in front of a baseball game or two and I'll be all set to stuff this little guy and be forever free of pin pricks to my fingertips!
