Shale. If you've never experienced it, it's hard to explain. Not that shale itself is hard to explain. Shale is just chips of rock stacked one on top of the other.
Experiencing shale is difficult to explain. It is a huge rock slide just waiting to happen. The feeling of walking on shale is what I think it must have felt like when Peter stepped out of the boat to walk across the water to Christ. What it must have felt like physically--not emotionally. I can't even imagine that. What I'm trying to say is that with every step, you feel like you're going to fall in or it's going to slide out from under you.
