A Different Viewpoint

Barbara at Mommy Life has posted three guest posts from members of a family who were medical missionaries for years in Haiti.

Their insight into the people of Haiti has broadened my perspective when viewing the earthquake and the devastation it caused. This post in particular opened my eyes to seeing the people in Haiti for who they are, not just a group of people living in poverty when disaster struck.

Read it, it might just change your mind about giving to an organization that has proven themselves to use the monies they receive to help people directly. (Personal opinion: Do NOT give to any government. There is no guarantee or record that your money will go where you intend!)

Steven Curtis Chapman’s youngest child died Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a car driven by her teenage brother in the driveway of the family’s Williamson County home.Maria, one of the Christian singer’s six children, was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Hospital, which confirmed the death, according to Laura McPherson, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The 5-year-old was hit by an SUV driven by her teenage brother, she said. Police did not give the driver’s name.The teen was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser down the driveway of the rural home at about 5:30 p.m. and several children were playing in the area, McPherson said. He did not see Maria in the driveway before the vehicle struck her, she said.“It appears to be a terrible accident,’’ McPherson said. No charges are expected, she said. The accident was witnessed by two other children; the entire family was home at the time, McPherson said.

Pray for the Babies

I saw a teaching friend, Chris, last night. Her daughter was pregnant with triplets. I say was because she had the babies last Saturday.
They were one day shy of 26 weeks gestation.
They are doing remarkably well. They don't even have that raisin-y wrinkled up look. They are really pink, but filled out considering how tiny they are.
They all have a small hole in their hearts that they are treating with medication in hopes to avoid surgery.
Please pray for these little boys and their parents.
They have a long road ahead of them.
